Willunga Farmers Market turns the heat on for local food heroes
Willunga Farmers Market, (WFM) South Australia’s first farmers market, is inviting expressions of interest from Fleurieu Peninsula based food producers to provide hot food at the weekly market.
After an in depth consultation process, the WFM Board of Management is inviting expressions of interest for a 12 month trial period for the inclusion of three (3) hot food producers. Expressions of Interest close COB Friday 14 August 2015.
‘By offering a variety of choice to our shoppers, we aim to see more shoppers stopping to relax with family and friends to enjoy the vibrancy of the market’, says Pip Forrester, WFM Chairperson.
‘The supply of hot food will still be dependent upon the WFM criteria for trade, with a minimum of 70% local ingredient content, with produce either grown by the supplier or sourced from the Fleurieu’, says Ms. Forrester.
‘We believe that the future of the market relies on our commitment both to our core principles and continuing to provide a vibrant, engaging environment for the community.
‘We have always been a market renowned for being innovative, and we hope to see that reflected in the variety of food we can offer to shoppers.’
With an average of approximately 2,500 shoppers through the gates each Saturday, WFM provides a thriving retail environment.
‘This region is South Australia’s food bowl with a huge amount of culinary talent. We are in a unique position to showcase the best of the region and champion our local food heroes,’ says Ms. Forrester.
