Our premium eggs are produced on four farms based on the Fleurieu Peninsula – Winbirra Farm (Willunga South), Maximus Farm (Mount Compass), Peel Farm (Pages Flat) and Banskia Ridge (Meadows). The eggs are graded, packed and distributed from Waye Court, Willunga.
John and Catriona Byrne co-founded feather&PECK in 2017 – introducing hens to their beef cattle rotation to improve the soil and produce amazing eggs. Since then, 3 other family farms have joined them, producing eggs under an accredited system (PROOF) which ensures that our hens are outside 80% of their time and rotated to new pasture at least weekly. Our farms have a low stocking rate of 75 hens per hectare and are fed local non-soy, non-GMO grain, as well as dining on fresh grass, bugs and worms.
They are protected by Maremma dogs and roost at night in mobile trailers. Feather&PECK believes in ethical egg production that regenerates family farms through sustainable pasture improvement, animal welfare and profitability.
Feather&PECK is at the market every Saturday ranging eggs in dozens including Large (600g), XL (700g) Jumbo (800g) and Kings (900g). Our popular Googlies are ‘random sizes’ – assorted, ungraded, with a shell that’s a bit speckled or rough BUT they are just the same quality egg inside. These are sold in ‘naked’ cartons which can go in your green waste bin. We also sell 30-egg trays of eggs. Customers can opt in to use the blue plastic trays and swap them each week. Pasture raised eggs are seasonal, because the hens get to choose what they eat. Sometimes we have bigger eggs – and sometimes we have smaller eggs, but they are always fresh, delicious and nutritious eggs.
