The Willunga Farmers Market Board has decided the Market will stay at the Willunga High School.
We will continue to engage with local community groups and expand the social programs at the Market. We will continue to actively work with all stakeholders, purposefully plan for the future, and contribute to Willunga as a Market town.
What criteria did you use to make this decision?
We considered many factors during the review process including financial, operational and awareness of the ongoing need for safety of our Stallholder and Shopper community. Access to fresh local produce is the number one driver for shopping at the Market and our priority will always be to continue to successfully deliver this for our member and visitor community.
What are the advantages of holding the Willunga Farmers Market at the Willunga High School?
The larger and safer space has had a positive impact on the Market, along with improved parking and accessibility options. Since moving to the High School site, we have had many new members and families become regular shoppers at the Market.
What plans do you have to continue to improve the market?
Now that a formal decision has been made, the Market management will be carefully considering the layout of the Market, to make full use of the available siting opportunities. Encouraging buskers, continuing to work on our successful program of complimentary workshops and demonstrations, and encouraging local groups to engage with our Market community will help to create a vibrant atmosphere.
We continue to welcome our members and regular shoppers and have also welcomed a number of new stallholders to the Market, generating interest and diversity amongst our produce offerings.
The Willunga Farmers Market Board look forward to continuing to deliver a robust, award-winning weekly Market – full of fresh local produce and community connections.
